Boughton House Archives

Students visited the newly opened archive and research centre where they read account books, rent books and letters written between 1914 and 1918. The letters were mainly about the management of the family estates and showed how things changed during the war. There were letters about army cadets using the Boughton House grounds for drill practice, letters about setting up a prisoner of war camp, the Duke sending venison (deer meat), the military hospitals to help the soldiers recover and requests for donations to keep the cricket club going during the war.
